Would I also get an award?
Yesterday I read on British Journal of Photography that an apparently banal photo was given the International Photography Award for the single image category and that award triggered a flood of negative comments from readers of BJP. Interestingly, two years ago I also took a similar photo:
I had no idea who the man was and why he was sleeping there. His appearance suggests that he was a poor migrant worker (or what the locals refer to as “min gong” 民工, rural or small town people who come to big cities to work, mostly in construction and lower level service industries). The interesting thing is that he had a book beside him. The photo would be more interesting if it showed the cover of the book.
