Snow Landscape in Black and White

Landscape in winter may be lackluster in terms of color, but can be perfect for black and white photography. For one thing, the scene is usually simplified in winter; trees are leafless or covered by snow and fields are bare. Lines and shapes of existing things become prominent and new lines and shapes are created by snow. In most cases, the only thing you need is some appropriate light. So when it is sunny and the snow is fresh, as it was the case last Sunday when I went snowshoeing with some of my friends, you have good opportunities to take good snow landscape pictures in black and white.

So we could not resist that temptation when we saw these scenes on our way to Mt Baker:
