Palouse’s Iconic Trees

Two cottonwood trees have served as focal points in a great many photographs of the Palouse. Both of them are visible from Steptoe Butte. One is located to the east and the other to the west. Because they are featured so prominently in so many photographs, let me call them the iconic trees of the Palouse. I am sure that those who have been to the Palouse for photography or are interested in the landscape photographs of that area will recognize them immediately. Here are a couple of pictures of these trees that I took on my latest trip there.

For the benefit of those who may not recognize the trees, I provide a couple of links here to relevant photos other photographers took: the western one and the eastern one.
